Below is an example of the racist cartoons that have become more popular in the 21st Century.

As the dust of the Civil war settled, many Blacks saw an era of prosperity and hope. This dream was cut drastically as a concerted effort was begun by whites to destroy any advances which Blacks had made for themselves. This effort was extremely successful in removing Blacks from the many state and federal offices which Reconstruction had allowed them to hold. But this was not enough. The architects of the revived South needed something more to further the cause of white supremacy and Black oppression. Out of this need, the era of Jim Crow was born with its "separate but equal" claims. And with it came a wave of violence against America's newest citizens.

Black people were lynched regularly from the days of legalized slavery until approx. 30 years ago.

...ONE OF THE WORST ATTACKS IN AMERICA
UPON BLACK PEOPLE..
...Tulsa, OK--1921:

Early in the Twentieth Century, the Black
community in Tulsa--the "Greenwood District"--
became a nationally-renowned entrepreneurial
center. Frequently referred to as "The Black Wall
Street of America," the Greenwood District
attracted pioneers from all over America who
sought new opportunities and fresh challenges.

Legal segregation forced blacks to do business
among themselves. The Greenwood District prospered
as dollars circulated within the black community.
But fear and jealousy swelled in the greater
Tulsa community. The alleged assault of a white
woman by a black man triggered unprecedented
civil unrest.

The worst riot in American history, the
Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 destroyed people, property,
hopes, and dreams. Hundreds of people died or were
injured. Property damage ran into the millions.
The Greenwood District burned to the ground.

But ever courageous, the Greenwood District pioneers
rebuilt the community from the ashes, bigger and
better than ever. By 1942, some 242 businesses called
the Greenwood District home.

FORCED RACIAL SEGREGATION...

Innocent black people --men and women --were

lynched and burned while white people celebrated !

THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF THESE TYPES OF

LYNCHINGS THAT WERE NEVER PROSECUTED.

NO ONE WAS EVER BROUGHT TO JUSTICE

FOR THESE VICIOUS CRIMES.

WHO WAS JIM CROW ?

Jim Crow was the name of the racial caste system which operated primarily, but not exclusively in southern and border states, between 1877 and the mid-1960s. Jim Crow was more than a series of rigid anti-Black laws. It was a way of life. Under Jim Crow, African Americans were relegated to the status of second class citizens.

Jim Crow represented the legitimization of anti-Black racism. Many Christian ministers and theologians taught that Whites were the Chosen people, Blacks were cursed to be servants, and God supported racial segregation. Craniologists, eugenicists, phrenologists, and Social Darwinists, at every educational level, buttressed the belief that Blacks were innately intellectually and culturally inferior to Whites. This system was not much different from the APARTHEID system of South Africa.

Nooses ignited the controversy surrounding the JENA 6 case.

Rev. Jesse Jackson was caught (by FOX NEWS on a hot mike) in an

embarrassing moment when he used the "N-WORD" -- talking about

the way that Barack Obama was addressing Black people. Even the women on

the TV show -- "The View" (Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, etc.)

-- have had hot discussions on the controversial use of the

"N-WORD" that causes so much upset.
